This DVD about the 7th Armored Division takes place in World War II during the Fall of 1944, Europe.
On August 15th, 1944 the 7th Armored Division, also known as "Lucky Seventh", was fighting in the XX Corps of the U.S. Third Army. The division was thrusting east to liberate Chartres after it's landing at Omaha Beach in early August.
Our Series II DVD, Liberation of Western Europe begins here and continues until mid-November 1944 as the 7th Armored goes into a reorganization and training period in Holland. The contents of this video show the action as was recorded by the 165th and 166th Signal Photo Company, during this historic operation. The military history footage in this video is intended to be strictly that of the 7th Armored Division and only shows other unit footage when two or more units are intertwined. Combat Reels has researched and compiled all of this raw combat film footage, then reformatted it into the DVD format for your viewing pleasure.

The first footage found for the 7th AD was from Wiltshire, England, in June, when General George Patton makes a speech to the Division. Then after the landing in France, begin with watching a 7th AD Task Force enter and liberate Chartres, France as the citizens celebrate. The division then pushes to Melun, Soizy, Chateau-Thierry and to cross the Seine River. See an awards ceremony at the WWI city of Verdun and then watch as the men of the Recon unit reach Metz. Then watch as both men of the 5th Infantry and 7th Armored prepare to cross the Moselle River. Next a battlefield commission ceremony takes place in Holland after the 7th Armored was sent north in order to fill a gap left by Operation "Market Garden". The series closes with scenes of the division moving into rest positions in Holland.
