This is a DVD of the 35th Infantry Division, also known as the 'Santa Fe', one of the follow up American Infantry Divisions used in the liberation of France in early July. The division would land in the Omaha Beach sector and quickly move to support the XIX Corps zone in the Battle for St. Lo.

This Invasion of Normandy film shows the actions of the men of the 35th Infantry Division as recorded by the 165th and 166th Signal Photo Companies, during the historic operation of the Normandy landings that started on D-Day, 6 June 1944. Combat Reels has researched and compiled all of this raw combat film footage, then reformatted it into the DVD format for your viewing pleasure.

The military history footage in this video is intended to be strictly that of the 35th Infantry Division and only shows other unit footage when two or more units are intertwined. This video contains footage covering the time from June 26, 1944, when the division was still in England prior to leaving, to August 17,1944 as the 35th reaches the town of Orleans, France.

GIs dig foxholes for protection in hedgerows before attack. Soldiers receive rations while taking a break from the action. Engineers build a bridge over the Vire River. Finally men search the town of Orleans for snipers left behind. Various units of the Division are positively identified, such as the 134th Inf. 127th F.A. and 35th Quartermasters.
