This is a DVD on the 30th Infantry Division, also known as the 'Old Hickory', one of the early follow up division used in the invasion of France in early June. The division would land in the Omaha Beach sector, and quickly move to support the actions of the XIX Corps attack towards St. Lo.

30th Infantry Division History on Film

This Invasion of Normandy film shows the actions of the men of the 30th Infantry Division as recorded by the 165th and 166th Signal Photo Companies, during the historic operation of the Normandy landings that started on D-Day, 6 June 1944. Combat Reels has researched and compiled all of this raw combat film footage, then reformatted it into the DVD format for your viewing pleasure.

The military history footage in this video is intended to be strictly that of the 30th Infantry Division and only shows other unit footage when two or more units are intertwined. This video contains footage covering the time from May 1944, when the division was still in England, to August 1944 when the 30th Division takes part in the exploitation of the breakout from Operation 'Cobra'.

30th Infantry Division DVD Highlights

Great for veterans, families, military historians, researchers and enthusiasts, some of the images included on this DVD video are soldiers of the 30th Infantry Division as they are inspected by Generals Eisenhower, Bradley and Hobbs while doing all forms of training exercises. Trucks load transport ships in English harbor in route to France. Artillery from the 118th F.A. gets into the fight around St. Lo. Many German prisoners are processed and guarded by the men of the 30th. Engineers remove mines from the roads in St. Fromand while members of the 119th search for snipers. See Leland Hobbs meet with Russian generals at the front in Normandy. Next tanks move up in support of the 30th for the breakout of Operation 'Cobra'. Finally watch the 30th move into the burning town of Tessy sur Vire.
