This DVD about the 2nd Infantry Division
takes place in World War II during the Fall of 1944, Europe.
On August 16th, 1944 the 2nd Infantry Division, also known as "Indianhead",
had just been squeezed out of the fighting to close the Falaise Gap,
and was placed in reserve for the First U.S Army. However, in just a couple of days the 2nd Inf. Division would be a part
of VIII Corps liberating the Brittany, Peninsula and forcing the capture of Brest.

Our Series II DVD, Liberation of Western Europe begins here and concludes at the end of October 1944 as the 2nd Division fights deeper towards Germany after capturing Brest, France.
The contents of this video show the action as was recorded by the 165th, 166th and 12th Army Group 51st Signal Photo Companies, during this historic operation. The military history footage in this video is intended to be strictly that of the 2nd Infantry Division and only shows other unit footage when two or more units are intertwined.
